Find Alabama Foreclosures

Alabama is one of the few states in the US that is still totally embroiled in Southern hospitality and Southern living. A few people have said that the Confederacy is still alive and well in Alabama. The major cities are not that big and even Montgomery, the capital, has hardly any rush hour to speak of. For some, the best things about Alabama are the little things, such as church on Sundays, knowing the neighbor's dog by name, saying "Sir" and "Ma'am", covered dish suppers, catching "lightnin' bugs" in a jar and the overall hometown feel of each and every area of the state. All of the major towns and cities here are great places to find Alabama foreclosures for sale. In fact, the average price for foreclosures is about 25% below retail. Of course, the cost of living is already cheaper in Alabama compared to the rest of the country so buying foreclosures here is just a smart investment. Some of the best areas to live in are Montgomery, Birmingham and Selma.

Surprisingly enough, Selma, Alabama, isn't one of the largest cities in the state but the residents more than make up for it because they are all warm, comforting and nice. The homes are absolutely affordable there and they were even before the housing slump. There are tree-lined streets, parties at all of the "plantation" homes almost every weekend, and the downtown area is being revitalized with the help of the community. There is an enormous amount of history in Selma. Also, the cost of living is a staggering 25.3% below the national average.

Montgomery, Alabama, the capital, has a population of only a little over 200,000; an extremely little big city. Over the last year, home appreciation has dropped nearly 7% so purchasing a foreclosed home here is cheaper than ever. The cost of living is nearly 15% below the national average and the unemployment rate in Montgomery is on par with the rest of the nation. Montgomery has a glorious culture and there are many great churches and colleges. They have a fabulous zoo, fine parks and a happening river front. Lake Jordan and Lake Martin are nearby for family fun and they both provide some of the finest boating and fishing around.

Birmingham, Alabama is only slightly bigger than the capital, with a population of near 230,000. The average retail price for a home is around $80,000 so buying a foreclosure could cost as little as $60,000. The unemployment rate is at about 10% but the cost of living is 20.7% below the national average. The area differs dramatically from street to street. The best schools and housing, according to residents, are generally along and south of Red Mountain in the suburbs. There are also a lot of great places to shop, many family-oriented things to do, lots of great restaurants and a variety of clubs.

Alabama is a laid-back state that has more of a community-feel than many states. The major cities are extremely small by comparison to other states. Buying a foreclosure in Alabama will open the door to a quality of life unlike any other.
